Racing at Spinnaker Club
Spinnaker has bred several national champions notably in the 420, Firefly and Laser classes. In addition Spinnaker members have been successful at the top of many of the country's biggest class fleets: Enterprise, Solo, GP14, Topper, Mirror and Optimist.
The club runs a full racing programme on Sundays and Wednesday evenings. The latter, through a personal handicap system that favours beginners, is aimed at encouraging as many people as possible to join in.
There is no pressure on members to race. However for many it is a major part of the fun of being a member and the club does all it can to encourage young and older sailors alike.
A fleet of club boats is available for club members to use for cruising or racing, at a nominal hiring fee.
