TRAINING
Spinnaker Club is a fully registered RYA Training Centre. Under the guidance of fully qualified professional instructors Spinnaker Club runs a full programme of RYA training courses for Dinghy Sailing, Powerboating and also shorebased theory courses.
The Club has a large fleet of boats available for training including Optimists, Toppers, Laser, RS Fevas, RS Visions , Fireflies, Laser Stratos and Wayfarer. Members are also welcome to use their own boats for tuition.
Training is available to Members and non Members alike. Non Club Members are required to take out a Training Membership for a small fee which lasts for 6 months and allows them access to unlimited training. Membership rates for 2010 are £33 for adults and £21 for children under 18. This is a great way of accessing training and trying sailing and club life before deciding whether to become a full Member of the Club and continue to progress through sailing recreationally or joining in Club racing.
Following training, Members can progress in the safe environment of our 60-acre lake to develop their sailing skills until they are confident in virtually any weather. Spinnaker Club Members have the major advantage that they can sail in almost any condition and without the concerns of tide and strong winds. A number of Spinnaker Club Members started in the Optimist at the Club and have now gone on to represent Great Britain at International events and major yachting regattas around the world.
