26 crews assembled for Spinnaker's annual Laser Open.

After allowing the breeze to arrive and settle, racing got underway at 1130 in light air. 11 ILCA 7/ full rig boats made the start with 15 ILCA6/4 boats as a combined fleet.

With glorious sun and the first sea breeze of the week building, three races were run back to back. Conditions allowed the whole lake was used, with two beats per lap.

With a steadily freshening SW breeze settling in the 12-15 knot range competitor enjoyed the champagne conditions and completed a fourth race after a short landing break. By end of race 4, 1600, a full sea breeze set in.

In the ILCA 7's Stokes Bay's Jake Farren-Price held off close competition from Spinnaker's Keith McQuillin and Emsworth's Charlie South in races 1-3. In Race 4 Keith got the jump on the fleet and benefited from tacking duals behind. It was Jake's day with 3 firsts.

In the ILCA 6's Spinnaker fielded 5 lasers. Robert Marshall (1st overall) and Michael Farmer shared the race wins, with traveller Findlay scooping three 2nds and 3rd overall.

7 ILCA4's including a strong Royal Lymington contingent sailed hard against their fleet and the ILCA 6's with Harry taking three wins. In race 4, Ben in the 4 led the whole fleet around three laps as his afternoon results improved as the wind built. Cameron counting 3,3,2.

Overall, great to see the diversity of sailors in the fleet and the fair, competitive spirit.

Thanks to organiser Keith, the club and on-the day crew for a memorable event.
