The Club is proud to support MacMillan Caring Locally and every year the tenth Wednesday evening pursuit race is dedicated to the Macmillan charity. The winner is awarded the Geoff Fardell Trophy, named after a previous Rear Commodore Houseand given to the Club by his widow, Competitors are asked to donate to Macmillan Local Care.

This year 23 boats competed on a beautiful sunny evening with a nice gentle breeze on an excellent course under the supervision of Race Officers Jon and Gabby Burns. The early pace was set by Keith Smith in his Solo 5100. Despite the best endeavours of the rest of the fleet when the klaxon was sounded at eight o'clock Keith was the worthy winner.

After the racing most competitors stayed on for a fish supper and prize giving, where Keith was presented with the trophy by Geoff's daughter, Emily.

As Jon Burns said at the presentation it was great to see such a great turnout and particularly so many classes of dinghy, eleven in total, including several double handers.

The fish supper was very popular and we intend to repeat this at least twice during the rest of the evening racing season.

Over £200 was raised and so all in all this proved to be a very successful evening.
