Don't Forget - Wednesday 6th April

On Wednesday 6th April at the Club we have our new members welcome and our seasonal pre-race evening. We encourage as many members as possible to come and join us!

Starting 7.30pm, we'll have a welcome from the Commodore Hywel, Rear Commodore Sailing Tom and Club Chief Instructor James.

There will be introductions to the sailing committee and the class captains. There is an overview of the club racing programme by Les, the Sailing Instructions and how our pursuit race format works. For lots more info please check out the Club's racing tab on the intranet, and these 2 new 2022 videos - sailing instructions and pursuit racing. Most of all there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

For those of you who have pre-ordered food this will be available at 7pm!

Youth Sailing Opportunities!

As we approach the Easter holidays our programme of you youth racing and training really restarts with lots to get involved in! There are also several events coming up we strongly encourage our sailors to get involved in such as the British Youth Sailing Regional Junior Championships, Onboard Fun Fleet and the BSDRA Southern Regionals (Team Racing).

Click here for more information about what we have planned for our youth sailors!

Naming of "Noble Spirit"

Spinnaker Sailing Club acquired a Solo, owned by the Club, last year which is available for use by members wishing to try out the class. The boat has been named "Noble Spirit" in honour of John Noble, a long time member and supporter of the club and avid Solo sailor.

We had hoped to name the boat with John in attendance at our Prizegiving last year, and unfortunately this had to be postponed due to concerns over the rising levels of Covid-19 at that time.

We are delighted to be able t say we have a new date for this dedication, Sunday 10th April, at 12.40pm (during the lunch break of the final day of the Alice Lisle Series). We would like to invite all members to join us to help show John a small amount of appreciation for all his efforts at the club over the years.

Topper Inland Championships!

This weekend saw two of our Topper sailors, Ed and Matthew, competing at the Topper Inland Championships at Grafham Water! Both were sailing in the 5.3 Fleet, which had a total entry of 86 boats! Both did very well with Matthew coming 24th overall, while Ed was unfortunately on the wrong side of a Black Flagged start line and still managed to achieve a very respectable 33rd overall! Well done both of you!
