Winter Talk - From A Gravel Pit to the Southern Ocean

We are having a change of day for our January Winter Talk which will be on Thursday 21 January at 6.30pm. We are very lucky to have a very distinguished guest this month, Ian Walker, Director of Racing at the RYA. In his current role, Ian leads the British Sailing Team and is heavily involved from Olympic level down to youth training, from trying to develop a strong British kiteboarding presence for the 2024 Paris Olympics to reviewing the Optimist squad system.

Before joining the RYA, Ian was a professional sailor and will be talking on "From a Gravel pit to the Southern Ocean". As you will probably know, Ian is a double Olympic Silver medallist, coach to the Gold Medal Yngling crew and the first British Skipper to win the Volvo Ocean Race. In addition he has an absolutely stellar sailing C/V from dinghies to Ocean Racing and has won four World Championships in four separate classes and Eight European Championships. He will be well worth listening to.
