    Solo Open 2020

The day dawned with an exceptional weather forecast: force 5 gusting 7, dying to force 1 later in the day. Race officer Peter May proposed a course with a full gamut of points of sailing was set, with the gybe mark mercifully in a more sheltered corner as far from the spectators on shore as possible. Several people decided to sit out the first race, looking to see how the remainder got on and hoping

  • Coronavirus and Spinnaker Sailing Club

Obviously this is a fast changing subject but currently it is business as usual at Spinnaker Club. There is a link to the Government's Corona Virus web page on the links section of our website. Advice and information is changing all the time, but at the moment we are running all events including this weekend's Solo training day on Saturday 14th and our Solo Open on Sunday 15th as normal. This may change as

Frostbite series underway in glorious sun

On a 12 degree day, in a pleasant F3/4 the early year sailors were out. At times the racetrack was bathed in sun. Hywel Morris set a windward/ leeward course with a few wide marks to get the boats planing on reaches. And plane they did. It was great to see the beautiful site of a Mirror in between the white sails of the solos and the lasers. Next race of this 8 race series

    2020 NEW YEAR'S DAY RACE

Despite a rather grey day and not a lot of wind 10 boats entered the race. This included 2 visitors. In view of the light winds the Race Officer set a simple triangular course. During the race there were frequent changes in the leadership, but eventually the race was won by our new Rear Commodore Sailing Tom Clay in his Firefly with Amanda Jukes in her new Lightning second and Paul Harris in his

Spinnaker Firefly Open 3rd November 2019

Spinnaker Firefly Open Sun 3 November 2019 The second day of the Spinnaker Firefly Weekend for the Firefly Open Meeting dawned as a total contrast to the first. Whilst the Twisted Tube Random pairs had been cancelled due to winds of Force 6 gusting 9, sailors arrived on Sunday to no wind but welcome sun. WPNSA, Optimist Nationals 2019

I just competed in my first ever regatta the Optimist Nationals at WPNSA. It was a real adventure. On Saturday 27 July 2019, we dropped off my Optimist at WPNSA. It was amazing to see the facilities and to see the beautiful vessels all around the bay, including The Black Pearl which was moored in the harbour. Unfortunately, we just missed the opening ceremony, but we quickly found the group from Spinnaker, unloaded
