Hiring Club Boats
Club boats are all available for hire by all eligible members. This service is provided to enable members without boats access to the lake, and to allow those with their own boats to try different classes. All boats are kept by the race hut. Hiring is currently restricted to when Club Staff are on site, and this is reflected in the slots available to book.
Club Boats may be booked by members using their website login, and using the "Book Online" section. The fee per session for use of the Club boats is low in order to encourage participation. Please do not book craft more than 24 hours in advance to ensure the forecasted weather is suitable for your ability. On arrival at the Club to use a booked craft please approach a member of staff who will inform you of which craft to use and provide you with cleaning materials. There is a modified process in place for Wedneday Evenings when Club Staff are not present, please see the attached document below for full details.
As these craft are heavily used occasionally pieces of equipment will break. Please report all breakages to the Chief Instructor at the earliest opportunity so that it can be rectified.
Please ensure you are able to rig any craft you book. During the week whilst craft are available for hire the Club's staff will normally be instructing, and unable to provide assistance with rigging. If you are unsure or may need assistance then Friday's Club Night is the perfect time to hire a new dinghy when a member of staff will be able to provide more assistance than normal.
All members are required to use their own Buoyancy Aid whilst hiring craft for recreational use. Dinghies are priced at £15 for half a day, Stand Up Paddleboards are £10 per hour, and the Sit On Top Kayaks are £5 per hour.
During the Covid-19 pandemic enhanced cleaning procedures have been put in place to ensure the safety of all members. This includes the washing of craft both before and after use. The Sailing Club's Instructor's will provide the appropriate cleaning materials and guidance on how this is to be achieved.
Please note that there are some restrictions on the use of some of these boats:
The Laser Stratos is for use by the Training Centre only which retains priority of all boats.
The matched Fireflies may only be used during organised training sessions and club events (unless permission is granted by the Rear Commodore Sailing, Club Boatswain or Club Administrator).
The Club retains the right to cancel any pre-booked hire or enforce reefing should the prevailing weather conditions require these actions.
Damage to craft due to un-seamanlike behaviour will result in a charge for the full cost of repair.
