Here at Spinnaker we offer a wide range of training options to assist you on getting afloat! At the bottom of this page you can download a PDF version of our current training programme, where activities are grouped by course/ability with the dates for the whole year viewable. All of this training can then be booked via our calendar

RYA Training

We deliver a range of RYA certificated courses in both Dinghy sailing and Windsurfing. These courses are ran as either 2 days across a weekend or 5 days Monday - Friday. In Dinghy sailing we offer courses from RYA Level 1 all the way through to the Advanced Sailing Modules, of which allows sailors to discover the aspect of the sport they most enjoy - whether that be racing, navigating, speed and power or advanced techniques that lead into the Instructor pathway or safe independance afloat.

Spinnaker also offers RYA Start Windsurfing. This course allows for a solid introduction into the world of Windsurfing. Windsurfing is not only an exhilarating sport, but can assist developing sailors with their wind awareness and deepen their understanding of how equipment works with the elements.

Below you will find the RYA pathways for both Windsurfing and Dinghy Sailing, along with links to further information about what each stage entails.

All specialist equipment and boats are provided on our RYA courses, with a packed lunch and clothing and shoes that can get wet being all you need to bring along!

Let's Go Sailing

Let's Go Sailing is ran on Tuesday evenings. It enables adults of varying abilities to head out on the water with support from our team of RYA Instructors and Coaches. We run Let's Go Sailing in blocks of 6, and simultaneously run groups of different levels.

Adult Learn To Sail: A group for those who have either no prior sailing experience, or very little. One of our Instructors will teach you the basics to get you afloat, and continue to build up your confidence in ability and independence whilst on the water. Please book onto week 1 and this reserves your space for all 6 weeks!

Adult Improver Sailing: This group is open to all members with some previous sailing experience. One of our Instructors will guide you through developing upon your skills, looking at a variety of topics to broaden your knowledge and ability range. Topics include coming alongside, better launching/landing, basic racing skills and more! Please book onto week 1 and this reserves your space for all 6 weeks!

All boats are provided during our Let's Go Sailing Programme, however member's who wish to use their own boat are most welcome to do so!

Class Captain's Race Training

At Spinnaker Sailing Club we have a variety of established classes or fleets of boats including Lasers, Solos and Fireflys. Throughout the year the Class Captains organise class specific training to help their sailors get the most out of their boats whilst racing.
