Youth Training At Spinnaker

Spinnaker Sailing Club offers an extensive training programme for our young members. We aim to cater to all abilities - right from the very beginning of their journey, all the way to National and International events. At the bottom of this page you can download a PDF version of our current training programme, where activities are grouped by course/ability with the dates for the whole year viewable. All of this training can then be booked via our calendar

RYA Training

We deliver a range of RYA certificated courses in both Dinghy sailing and Windsurfing. These courses are ran as either 2 days or 5 days. In Dinghy sailing we offer courses from RYA Stage 1 all the way through to the Advanced Sailing Modules, of which allows young sailors to discover the aspect of the sport they most enjoy - whether that be racing, navigating, speed and power or advanced techniques that lead into the Instructor pathway.

We offer RYA Youth Stage 1 + 2 in Windsurfing, allowing our young members to gain a solid introduction into the world of Windsurfing. Windsurfing is not only an exhilarating sport, but can assist developing sailors with their wind awareness and deepen their understanding of how equipment works with the elements.

All specialist equipment and boats are provided on our RYA courses, with a packed lunch and clothing and shoes that can get wet being all that students need to bring along with them!

Spinnaker Youth Training

Spinnaker Youth Training is our regular youth dinghy coaching programme which runs primarily on weekends with some additional Race Coaching Camps mid-week during school holidays. It is designed to allow young sailors to carry on once they have learnt the basics and progress from beginner to world class racer. Please see more details on this page.

Class Association Training

We have fantastic links with both the International Optimist Class Association and International Topper Class Association. Each winter Spinnaker Sailing Club hosts the Southern Pre-RTG Training for these class associations, who provide their own coaches. We are also a member club of the JETS Programme, a collaboration between 6 south coast clubs to offer structured coaching to racing sailors in Toppers each winter. This training is bookable directly with the Class Associations.
