Every year hundreds of local school children come to Spinnaker Sailing Club through organised School activity.
Sailing is a fantastic sport that facilitates not only exercise, but allows children to enjoy the outdoors, the water, and build upon important life skills all whilst having fun.

Sometimes sailing can appear to be a confusing and expensive activity, however - it doesn't have to be!
Many children want to carry on sailing after coming with their school, and Spinnaker Sailing Club is here to support your and your child in continuing their sailing journey.
Depending on what sailing your child has done with school we have several options available.
At The Start of Your Sailing Journey?
If they have just done a short taster session (and maybe received a Taster Certificate) then the RYA Youth Stage 1 course is the next step in their sailing journey. We offer this certificate in many different formats, either as a 2-day course that can be done on weekends or during the School Holidays, or spread across several Sunday mornings as part of our Spinnaker Youth Training programme. We also run RYA Youth Stage 1 as a 5-day combined course, where during the holidays children can work towards both their Stage 1 and Stage 2 within the 5 days.
If they have already achieved their RYA Stage 1 through sailing with school they can join us for 2-days to achieve their RYA Stage 2. We typically run Stage 2 across a Thursday and Friday during the School Holidays, where they will join up with our Stage 1 + 2 combined course. Spinnaker Youth Training ran on Sunday mornings is also a great option for children aiming towards RYA Youth Stage 2, where they can join our RYA Beginners Group.
Already RYA Stage 2 Or Above?
Once they have achieved their RYA Stage 2 Certificate we have a range of other courses and groups to help them carry on sailing and making friends! We can supply boats, buoyancy aids and other equipment to aid their continued journey. This can come in the form of following the RYA Stage Syllabus, or joining us on Sunday Morning for Spinnaker Youth Training, where we host many different groups with a focus on specific skills over the course of 6 weeks.
How To Book
To take part in any of our activities you must be a member of Spinnaker Sailing Club. Our Training Memberships are ideal for those learning to sail and start from just £32 a year! All our memberships give access to all our instructor led activities, and depending on which membership option you go for 7-day a week boat hire in the summer and being able to take part in Club Racing.
Our 2-day courses cost £185 per person.
Our 5-day courses cost £350 per person.
The RYA Beginners Group as part of Spinnaker Youth Training is £150 for 6 sessions.
