Our Training Centre

At Spinnaker Sailing Club we run a varied training programme for adults and children of all ages and abilities. All of our training is delivered by Royal Yachting Association (RYA) instructors and coaches to a high standard. As an RYA Recognised Training Centre we are annually inspected to ensure we continue to meet the high standards and expectations of the RYA in equipment, standards of instruction and safety. We are fortunate that amongst our staff and volunteer team we have a range of incredibly experienced instructors including two who hold appointments as RYA Trainers (allowing them to deliver RYA Instructor Training) and two RYA Centre Inspectors (who support the RYA in the inspection of other clubs and centres).

As a Club our training programme is run to support our members in learning to sail, and then helping them grow in skill and confidence to allow them to enjoy sailing safely, and take part in club activities, or higher level racing nationally. We offer RYA certificated training courses, as well as a varied programme of non-certificated training, that is designed to complement the RYA courses, and encourage regular participation.

We offer powerboat training to support members in developing the skills to help other club members either by becoming an instructor themselves, or by becoming trained to operate our safety boats and support club racing.

As an RYA Recognised Training Centre we are able to deliver certificated training in dinghies, windsurfing and powerboats to our members and affiliated groups. The RYA Training Scheme is recognised as being world leading, and we can offer certificated courses for every level through the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme, RYA National Sailing Scheme (for adults and older teenagers), and RYA Powerboat Scheme.
