See Sailing Your Way - Learn to Sail Group 2 Week 6
Brand new for 2025 - See Sailing Your Way!
We are very excited to bring this new project to Spinnaker Sailing Club in partnership with New Forest Sailability, and supported by RYA Sailability and Blind Sailing UK!
Over a 15 week period we are offering the opportunity for blind and visually impaired individuals to lean to sail, and then consolidate these skills in a supportive environment, with opportunities to continue sailing beyond this programme!
Your first 6 weeks will be spent following a structured programme learning to sail. With qualified Royal Yachting Association instructors, experienced volunteers from New Forest Sailability and a range of craft available your experience will be tailored to what you want to achieve, and how far you want to take your sailing. There are two blocks of 6 weeks for individuals to learn to sail, the dates are:
Block 1 - 24th April to 29th May
Block 2 - 5th June to 10th July
The last 3 weeks of the programme will offer a relaxed opportunity to carry on sailing, with support from the instructor team, but very much guided by you the sailor. The dates for these sessions are:
17th July
24th July
31st July
All the See Sailing Your Way sessions will run from 10:00am to 12:30pm.
Every session of See Sailing Your Way will run alongside our weekly Social Sailing and Informal Racing sessions, allowing you to meet other sailors, and gain an insight into what opportunities there are beyond your first steps. Following this 15 week programme we hope to see people continuing to sail with their new found skills, either with Spinnaker Sailing Club and New Forest Sailability; or through one of the other organisations in our local sailing community we can help you connect with.
Thanks to generous support and funding from other organisations the cost of this programme has been kept low to just £32 per participant, with membership of either New Forest Sailability or Spinnaker Sailing Club for the remainder of 2025 included!
All specialist equipment such as buoyancy aids will be provided.
