Youth Team Racing Academy Winter 24/25

There has recently been a great increase in interest in team racing amongst older Junior/younger Youth sailors on the south coast. Following several enquiries, and sailors asking how they can get involved in more team racing we are very excited to be offering a series of 5 days coaching/training in team racing at Spinnaker Sailing Club this winter!

Across the 5 days we will be looking at how team racing works (including the all important scoring system), a greater knowledge of the rules (including Appendix D), and an introduction to and development of tactics and strategy both boat vs. boat and team vs. team. This programme will be run using Spinnaker Sailing Club's 12 Fireflies, with spaces capped at 24.

It is expected that sailors will be competent open meeting racers with a solid knowledge of fleet racing and be able to sail a double handed boat, it is envisaged that sailors will be 14 or older to be able to fully engage with this programme due to the boats in use.

For those sailors with little experience of Fireflys there is a Class Training Day running at Spinnaker Sailing Club on Saturday 26^th October which will include a group looking at an introduction to Firefly sailing.

To take part in this programme sailors must be members of Spinnaker Sailing Club (a winter training membership is only £30). Each session will then have a fee of £25 to cover the costs of the coaches and use of boats.
