Winter Wednesdays - The Work of an MAIB Inspector

25th November 2020, 18:30 - 19:30

With lockdown continuing and the Club closed, the Sailing Committee thought it would be great to have some sailing/marine talks via Zoom and we have a fascinating speaker to start us off.

Many of you will have met Jae Jones at the Club and seen him sailing his Aero. You may not have realised that Jae is a professional seaman, a Ship's Captain and that he now has a fascinating job as Principal Inspector of Marine Accidents with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch, an independent unit within the Department of Transport. On Wednesday 25 November he will talk to us about:

  • Who are the Marine Accident Investigation Branch
  • Our role locally and globally in maritime safety
  • MAIB investigations - how we go about them and looking at a couple of case studies
Please indicate you wish to attend by booking a place (there is no charge). On Tuesday 24th November an email will be sent to all those who have registered their interest with a link to join the talk on Zoom (a free to use video calling app).
