New Winter Powerboat Course Dates

Following several recent enquiries we have added three powerboat training course dates to our winter programme, and all of these are now bookable via our website at the links below.

RYA Powerboat Level 2 - This is the first step most people take in learning to drive a powerboat (some may start with a Level 1 Course, which is day 1 of a 2-day Level 2 course).

25th/26th November 2023
6th/7th January 2024

RYA Safetyboat - This is the next step on from Level 2, and teaches you the skills to support dinghy sailors, windsurfers and paddlers through a variety of rescue techniques and a qualification we require at least 1 person to have on every safetyboat when supporting club racing.

9th/10th December 2023

Look out for more details soon about the rest of our 2024 programme!

2024 Team Racing Events

We are very excited to be hosting two National Championships in 2024!

On 16th/17th March we are hosting the RYA/BUSA Women's Team Racing National Championships, while on 23rd/24th March we are hosting UKTRA, the UK Team Racing National Championships!

Both of these events will showcase some fantastic sailing with close to shore, easy to watch action and lots of tactics being put into effect in Fireflys! Team Racing is a fantastic spectator sport and some of the best sailors in the country will be racing at our club for these events.

We cannot deliver these events without support from our members. We are looking for volunteers to assist us on the Start/Finish boats, on the pontoon for changeovers and general support in the galley and on shore. We have a number of highly experienced volunteers coming in from outside the club to assist in roles such as Umpires and Race Officer. If you are able to help or would like more information please speak to either James (Chief Instructor) or Tom (Rear Commodore Sailing).

Social Sailing

Don't forget Social Sailing runs every Thursday morning from 10.30 to 12.30 all year round (except for the Christmas break). One of our staff is on hand to provide support and man the safetyboat, and it's a great way to meet other members.

Sea Scout Regatta

We are looking forward to hosting a regatta for our local Sea Scout Groups on Saturday 30th September. This event will see scouts from across Hampshire taking competing in kayaking, rowing and sailing!

Due to the size of this event the lake will be closed for recreational access between 9am and 5pm on Saturday 30th September.
