Club Racing

A huge thank you to Tim, Rick and Dick who all stepped in at the last minute on Sunday to enable club racing to run. If this had not happened racing would not have run. Without members volunteering we simply cannot run club racing.

We continue to have a number of gaps in our duty roster and duties will be allocated this Thursday.

Save The Date - Blashford Barrel

If you enjoyed our Club Regatta a few weeks ago then don't forget we have the Blashford Barrel on Sunday 30th August, another day of fun activities and water challenges!

A31 Fire Updates

At the time of writing the A31 is still shut across the New Forest, with significant efforts ongoing to control the fire. There has been damage to sections of the A31 road surface and the central reservation barriers in multiple locations as well as the ongoing heathland fire. No update has yet been given for an estimated re-opening of the A31.

The club site continues to be unaffected by the fire, and activities are continuing as normal. However, we are getting reports of difficulties in driving around the local area due to the volume of traffic using alternative routes. Please check for the latest travel information before heading to the club.

Sailors On Adventures

It's been a busy few weeks with our members heading off to multiple events across Europe!

Two weeks ago 5 of our sailor were in Quiberon for the Topper World Championships! After a tough week in variable conditions all of them came away smiling having had their first experiences of international competition, supporting the sailors were of course their parents, younger siblings and James and Sam (Hamble River Lead Coach) who provided on water coaching and support throughout the event. Meanwhile back in the UK Andy and Stan defended their title as National Champions in the Yachting World Dayboat, coming away with a 2nd overall after a well sailed regatta.

Then last week saw 6 of our sailors heading off to Parkstone Youth Week, a smaller contingent than we've had in recent years, partly due to a large number of them being at Topper Worlds. Particular mention has to be given to Samuel for venturing out in his first ever racing event in an Optimist in Blue Fleet, and Monty for rushing back from the Topper Worlds to compete in the Topper 5.3 Fleet.

If your children have been inspired by the stories of what they could do, why not sign them up to our RYA Youth Start Racing Course on 20th and 21st August.

Adult Learn to Windsurf Course

Following a couple of requests and a re-jig of our programme we have managed to slot in an RYA Start Windsurf Course for those aged 14 and over! This course is suitable for those who have never windsurfed and want to learn! You can see all the details and book on here.

Site Improvement Works

Over the last few weeks you my have noticed a few small changes around the site. Our new compost heap is now finished, and the black matting has been expanded at the northern end of the site to make launching easier.

How to Stay In Touch

Don't forget a really good way to stay in touch with other members is our Whatsapp Community, there are different groups within the community for each of our main classes, as well as the SYT Parents Group and a Kayaking/Paddleboarding Group.
