Spinnaker Youth Training Block 3
As we approach the start of the autumn term the final block of Spinnaker Youth Training (SYT) is almost with us. SYT is a fantastic way for any young person who sails to take part in regular coaching sessions with sailors of a similar ability on a Sunday morning.
SYT starts back on 6th September, see all the details and book on here,
Christchurch Sailing Club Junior Week and Blashford Barrel
You may have seen and read in the news recently about the very high levels of E. Coli which have been detected in the rivers feeding Christchurch Harbour. As a result of these levels Christchurch Sailing Club brought their junior week to us for 3 days! We were very happy to help them out, and we hope the relationship between our two clubs will continue to grow.
On Sunday they joined in with our Blashford Barrel, meaning a huge number of smiley faces enjoyed our day of fun races challenges and racing! A big thank you to everyone who made the day happen!
Wednesday Racing Update
Last Wednesday saw a great evening of racing, even if he wind did sadly disappear for large parts of our final Personal Handicap Pursuit Race of 2026. Following racing we had fish & chips, followed by a brief prize giving, where the Morris family seemed to walk away with most of the haul!
The next four Wednesday's we have a single handicap race as our Twilight Series finishes off Wednesday racing for 2026!
Rock Up and Race
Our final planned Rock Up and Race session ran on Friday in some fantastic wind, with 8 boats heading out! We are now reviewing how Rock Up and Race has worked within Spinnaker Sailing Club, as part of our feedback to the RYA about the pilot project.
2027 Programme
Next Monday our Sailing Committee are meeting, whilst there are many items on the agenda, one of the key items is the 2027 Programme! We will be discussing any changes to be made at this meeting, so if you have any feedback please pass it to a Sailing Committee member asap!
How to Stay In Touch
Don't forget a really good way to stay in touch with other members is our Whatsapp Community, there are different groups within the community for each of our main classes, as well as the SYT Parents Group and a Kayaking/Paddleboarding Group.
