ILCA Training Day
Saturday saw 7 of our ILCA sailors head out for a training day led by Class Captain Jonathan. Despite the light winds in the morning there was some fantastic learning and development around starting, mark rounding, and how to use boat heel to best effect! Al of this activity was fuelled by Katie's cakes!
Thank you to Jonathan and Katie!
Social Sailing
Wednesday evening racing has now finished for 2026, but if you're looking for your mid-week fix of dinghy sailing don't worry! Our Thursday morning Social Sailing is still running every week between 10.30 and 12.30! Following on from this year's Rock Up and Race we are looking to introduce some Rock Up and Race style activity on Thursday mornings from November 5th!
New Staff!
We are delighted to announce that Lucy will be joining us for the next three weeks as a Lead Instructor to support our team for the final few weeks of October! You may have seen we are also currently recruiting for several permanent staff roles to ensure we can continue our busy programme into 2027!
Autumn Work party - Save The Date
On 10th October we will be holding our Autumn Work Party, where we ask as many members as possible to give up a little bit of their time to help maintain our club grounds through weeding, cutting hedges, strimming grass and other maintenance tasks.
We will be staring at 10am and continuing to around 3pm. There is a poll on Whatsapp to let us know how many donuts to buy! If you have your own strimmer/brushcutter etc please do bring it along for your personal use.
RYA and BUSA Women's Team Racing National Championships
We are once again this year hosting the Women's Team Racing National Championships, two fantastic days of close quarters racing! To help us deliver this event we are looking for a number of volunteers. No experience is necessary as we can provide support and training.
You can see more information about the event here.
How to Stay In Touch With Other Members
Don't forget a really good way to stay in touch with other members is our Whatsapp Community, there are different groups within the community for each of our main classes, as well as the SYT Parents Group and a Kayaking/Paddleboarding Group.
