Is it Winter or Summer? In the last week it could have been either, with fantastic sunshine and warmth over the weekend before today's wind and rain!
Annual General Meeting 2022 - Sunday 4th December
The Annual General Meeting of Spinnaker Sailing Club will be held at 1.30pm on Sunday 4th December in the Clubhouse. At the link below you can find the Notice of AGM, which includes an agenda and resolutions to be voted on including for the Club's Flag Officers. Also at this link you will soon be able to find the written reports from the Club's Directors, as well as the Annual Financial Accounts. Following the AGM there will be a short prizegiving for awards won since the end of August.
We strongly encourage all our members to attend the AGM to hear updates about what is planned for the Club, what has happened this year, and have the opportunity to ask questions of the Main Committee. To help us celebrate the success of 2022 everyone who attends the AGM is invited to have one free drink from the bar!
Keeping Your Boat Safe!
With the current regular strong winds can we please remind all members to ensure their boat is securely fastened down when ashore. There are chains under the berths to allow this. If you notice the chains are becoming loose please inform the office and this will be dealt with as a high priority.
We also strongly advise members to remove all sails from their boats when not in use at this time of year, some of our local wildlife like making nests out of the material!
Special Delivery For One Of Our Youth Sailors!
On Saturday we had a very special delivery arrive!
A brand new Ovington Optimist funded by the John Merricks Sailing Trust and RYA Onboard for Billy, one of our regular Spinnaker Youth Training sailors! Over the last couple of years Billy has been a familiar face in our coaching sessions and racing in a home built wooden optimist!
After his attendance at the British Youth Sailing Regional Junior Championships earlier this year he has been awarded the exclusive use of this boat for 2 years to help him develop his sailing and keep active all year round!
He put it straight to use in the IOCA Pre-RTG Training that the club was hosting on Saturday!
Club Boat Hire Times
Please remember now that we are into the Winter Season Club Boats are available to hire from 9am to 4.30 pm Sunday to Thursday only, there is no hire equipment available on Friday or Saturday.
Class Captain Update!
Over the last few years Keith McQuillin has been the ILCA/Laser Class Captain, as well as at time the Optimist Captain and Topper Captain, and he has also recently taken on the role of South Coast Rep for the UK Laser Class Association!
To give some change within the ILCA/Laser Fleet (and give Keith some well earned rest) Gareth Humphries has very kindly stepped forward as our new ILCA/Laser Class Captain and joined the Sailing Committee! While no longer officially a Class Captain Keith will be remaining on the Sailing Committee supporting all our sailors as he has always done.
Thank you Keith and Gareth!
