Firefly Weekend 2022!

This weekend saw the Club host it's annual Firefly Weekend, a 2 day action packed event attracting a very high level of sailors!

You can read a full report about the racing here.

A big thank you to everyone who made this event possible!

Social Sailing and Paddling

Don't forget we have Social Sailing and Paddling from 10.30 to 12.30 every Thursday! A safety boat will be rigged and ready to go with one of our instructors on standby to man it! We have some slightly milder and calmer weather this Thursday than in recent weeks so it's a great chance to get out on the water!

Race Hut Klaxon

Please be aware that a fault has developed with the kalxon that is fitted to the race hut. We are working to rectify the issue as quickly as possible. For the moment can all Race Officers please use the "autohoot" portable sound system for race signals. If you are usure how this works please speak to James, Neil or a member of the Sailing Committee.

Big Island Clearance!

Following the success of our work in clearing the large island of vegetation last year we are going to finish the job this winter!

As the bird nesting season has now ended we are looking to being working on clearing all the undergrowth from next week. This not only improves the wind flow across the lake, but will also provide a better nesting habitat for some of the birds which frequent our lake.

Due to limited space on the island we can only have a few people working there at once. If you would be able and willing to provide some help mid-week with this project please email James on training@spinnakerclbu.co.uk and he will co-ordinate the work via email.

The Winter Winds are Here!

You can't help but have noticed the recent winds we have been experiencing, making for some very fast (and for some wet) sailing!

Please can we remind all members to ensure their boat is securely tied down when ashore. This helps protect your boat, the boats of other members, and means your insurance is valid! All dinghy insurance policies require that boats are secured down to remain valid!
