Solo & Byte Open Meeting

Saturday 13th May saw our Solo & Byte Open Meeting, with 19 competitors, including a number of visitors from as far away as West Lancashire! The two classes raced separately, with 4 races each. It was a home victory day for Spinnaker as Duncan in his Byte and Ian in his Solo took the over wins!

Full results from the day can be seen here.

Other Users of the Lake

With the recent warm weather, many people have been enjoying the lake. Can we please remind all our members and users that we do not have exclusive use of the lake, and share it with Christchurch Angling Club. Over the years, the two Club's have had a collaborative and friendly relationship and this is something we wish to continue.

Christchurch Angling Club have a number of "swims" they fish from dotted around the lake. When a swim is in use can we please ask members to avoid going within 25m if possible. The lines used by the anglers can be hard to see and catching them with a boat/board/kayak can damage the fishing equipment, and risks injury to the water user. If you would like to know where the swims are located please speak to a member of Club staff.

SYT Pizza Tea and More

Following the popularity of our SYT having a late lunch together on the last session of each block last year, we are planning the same again this year.

This Sunday we would like to encourage all our SYT sailors to take part in the first race, which ends around 13.45, before we have pizzas and other food together at 14.15. On the last session of Block 2, we intend to have a BBQ together as we did last year.

Pizza must be pre-ordered by clicking here. All our younger members are invited to join in so sailors are welcome to bring along siblings, and it would be great to see some of sailors who don't come to SYT as well!

We are also looking at organising a group trip to the New Forest Waterpark again this year in July!

Lost Property

We have collected a large amount of "lost property" over the last couple of months. On Wednesday 24th May we will be having a clear out, with items not claimed disposed of.

We encourage all our members (particularly those with children) to have a check in the box this week.

Club Duties

Please remember we rely on our members doing club duties to make our racing programme run! We have recently had several members fail to show up for their rostered duty. Fortunately due to the kindness and flexibility of other members on these days racing has still been able to run, but this could not have happened with more challenging weather conditions, or if we had not had such experienced volunteers on hand.

If you have not volunteered for duties yet this year we will shortly be allocating duties across the summer period to ensure our racing programme can run. To volunteer for duties please log into the Club Website, and go to the "Duty Roster" via the Portal.
