Easter Sunday Funday

A big thankyou to everyone who volunteered their time to make Easter Sunday so fun for everyone! Jonathan did a fantastic job as always as our Race Officer ably assisted by Eddie as ARO and Matt/Andy on the safetyboat. With a total of 9 races, all started from the committee boat everyone who sailed came back in very happy after some great sailing. As well as some of our regular adult racers it was brilliant to see some newer faces taking part, including regular Topper racer Ava and her (at the moment) non-sailing sister Amelia in a Firefly!

Team Racing Update

On Saturday we held a Youth Team Racing and Firefly Introduction! 9 of our younger sailors got to try out the Club's Fireflys and have a go at Team Racing with our Chief Instructor James and Fi from the Firefly Class Association who very kindly gave up her Saturday to help out!

Coming up in a couple of weeks we have the British Schools Dinghy Racing Association Southerns hosted at Spinnaker Sailing Club by Winchester College! We have requested an entry for a Spinnaker Youth Team and are looking forward to a day of very fun team racing against local schools!

Club Boat/Kayak/Paddleboard Hire

Don't forget the Club's dinghies, paddleboards and kayaks are available to hire 7 days a week throughout the Summer (Easter to the end of October)! As a Club we have worked hard over the last 2 years to improve the quality and range of boats available for members to use, all for very reasonable prices!

As the Club is entering a very busy period with lots of activity can we please remind all members to please check with the Duty Senior Instructor which boat to take when they have hired something! Many of our boats are now in use 7 days a week and we are constantly working to keep them maintained. By checking in with the staff team we can make sure you take a boat with all the right equipment and not one that has been prepared for something else.

Spinnaker Youth Training

Sunday 24th April sees Spinnaker Youth Training restart for 2022! We have 29 young sailors signed up at the moment (there is still some space for the Stage 1 group)! The parents of all sailors who have signed up will receive an email later today with more details and information about Spinnaker Youth Training so we can make it the most positive experience possible for our youth sailors.

Open Days 2022!

We are busy planning two open days for 2022! The aim of these days is to showcase the club to non-members and let them see what they could be involved with if they joined!

The first open day is planned for Sunday 8th May. This day is aimed at showing existing sailors some of the unique offerings of Spinnaker Sailing Club such as our Spinnaker Youth Training Programme, Team Racing and very active Club Racing! If you have friends who already sail and have expressed an interest in youth coaching or team racing this is a great day to invite them along to the club to see what we do! Whilst SYT is running in the morning our Team Racers will be heading out for a practice session to how off their Firefly skills!

Our second open day is planned for Saturday 18th June, and is a much more traditional open day with free sailing tasters for non-sailors to try sailing and see if they would like to join the Club! For this day in particular we are looking for volunteers to assist with the sailing tasters, manning the safetyboat and being friendly faces at the Club to say hello! If you would be able to help please talk to James.
