Commodore's Cup, Alice Lisle Tankard, Fish and Chips, and Prizes!

This Wednesday (30th August) we have two dinghy races, followed by fish and chips and our Wednesday Summer Prize Giving!

The Commodores Cup Handicap Race will start at 17.45 (with a separate Junior Fleet start).

The Alice Lisle Tankard Pursuit Race will start at 18.53

For both these races we now have special junior trophies to celebrate the achievements of our young sailors! Our Chief Instructor James is once again our Race Officer and is happy to provide hints and tips to newer racers before the starts to help them take part and have fun.

Following racing we will be having fish and chips at around 20.30, and of course the bar will be open before we have our prize giving! Fish and chips must be pre-ordered by 1200 on Wednesday via this webpage.

Sponsorship Opportunity

As part of our ongoing project to improve our perpetual trophies for our junior sailors we are looking for sponsors!

We have several new trophies with the opportunity for sponsors to contribute towards the cost of these prizes and then name them! Whether you would like to name a trophy to remember a family member, someone who you think deserves recognition for their contribution to sailing or name it after your business we are open to all sponsors!

Please speak to James Oborne, John Driscoll or Phil Tinsley for more information.

Spinnaker Youth Training Block 3

There's less than 2 weeks until the start of SYT Block 3! We have some fantastic opportunities lined up for our youth sailors to receive coaching and support over 6 Sunday mornings.

For those who have completed their RYA Stage 2 this summer our SYT Improvers Group is ideal for consolidating what they've learnt and making new friends that sail. For those who have been in the Improvers Group for 2 blocks, or who have done their Stage 3 or 4 why not try our Begin to Race Group and learn how to race, giving you the skills to join in with club racing! For those with a bit more experience our Improver Racing group is for those who are racing regularly and want to push their skills to the next level!

Optimist Open Meeting

This Saturday is our annual Optimist Open Meeting. We currently have 44 boats entered, and space for more! If your child would like to take part but doesn't have a suitable boat please email James on training@spinnakerclub.co.uk now as we may be able to help. Entry closes for the event on Wednesday 30th August, click here for more details!

Please be aware that due to the scale of this event the lake will be closed to all users not involved in the event.

Congratulations!

Finally a big congratulations to Duncan and Kirsten Glen for their recent performance in the Byte National Championship! Duncan retained his title of National Champion, while Kirsten put up an excellent effort to try and get ahead of her dad, coming third overall! Well done both of you!
