Bank Holiday Races

On a glorious warm day the racers assembled for the Bank Holiday Pursuit Race (Faster & slower) and a 3 race short format mini-series.
In the slower pursuit 8 crews competed with Lewis (Oppy) a worthy winner over Max (Topper) and Jasmine/ Charlotte (Feva).
In the faster pursuit Keith used every minute of the race to overall the fleet just getting ahead of Caroline's Aero 5 and Gabby's Laser Radial in the closing minutes. At one moment in the generally light winds there was a surreal 'tableau' of the fleet as the wind totally died and all were 'frozen' on the lake. As the pursuit evolved the wind shifted from the North, East and a few other directions to a bit of South Easterly.
24 boats of many types entered the mini-series as what felt like the start of a mild sea breeze. Race officer Peter sent the fleet beating South before a long run to the top of the lake. The principal choice being whether to go straight and risk blanketing or head to the perimeter. The breeze never established and got very light by Race 3 and great skill needed to seek what zephyrs there were.
Overall, by 'count-back' Paul in the Solo took the series with 1,2,5 over Keith's Laser (1,2, DNC). Well done Lewis in the Oppy for a Race 1 5th.
Thanks to officials Peter, Guy, Maddy and Christine safety cover. Picture shows Peter award Paul.
