Hello From Your New Commodore!

Dear Members
Following on from yesterday's Annual General Meeting where Hywel Morris stood down as Commodore, and those present electing me to take on the role of Commodore, I am writing to formally introduce myself to those that I have not had the pleasure of meeting yet.
I started sailing at Oxford Sailing Club in the 1970's, initially crewing a Merlin, then helming a Cherub and finally an OK super strong fleet in those far off days. I then didn't sail much until I crewed a 505 in the 1980's, and finally as a member of Maidenhead then Datchet, I crewed a Flying Fifteen for 15 years. I joined Spinnaker in 2019, and now sail a GP14 with my wife Sally, and a Solo (slowly).
Sailing is a delightful sport/recreation, and if you like sailing, I have found you are a generally a likeable person. Whether you are a keen racer, or a recreational water user at the club, you can be assured of meeting helpful friendly people.
We are a member's club, in that, the club members run the club, aided by our splendid professional staff. Please do not be shy in offering whatever time and expertise you have every little helps! The Sailing and Main Committees aim to be time efficient, and are happy to accommodate the time you have available.
If you have any queries, or want help, please do be in touch via the office or direct on commodore@spinnakerclub.co.uk
I look forward to meeting more of you.
Philip Tinsley
