As the Wednesday evening light starts to reduce, the last day of August saw the fleet compete for the historic Commodores Cup (Yardstick race) and the Alice Lisle Trophy Pursuit Race.
In the faster boat fleet 19 boats set off in a reducing North/ North Easterly from a commitee boat start using the full length of the lake for the principal beat. A short reach was followed by a long run resulting in some good wind blanketing opportunities and downwind tactics. After four laps the result in a win for Ian Hickman's Laser, followed by Tom Clay in the firefly and Nick Robinson in the Solo very closely ahead of Jon Burns' Aero.
In the junior fleet persistence paid for Lewis in the Oppy who overcame good competition from Matthew Topper and William's Oppy.
After a short break, the Pursuit got underway. The Lightnings were leading by Lap 2 and holding the top two positions from there in. Smooth sailing allowed Amanda Jukes to overtake Jason after Lap 3. In hot pursuit were half a dozen boats, from which Jon Burns in the Aero got clear. As the clock drew the race to a close Amanda's commanding lead gives her the 2022 Trophy. In the junior fleet the same finish order as the earlier race gives Lewis the win.
A warm summer evening closed with Fish and chips and trophy presentation by Commodore Hywel.
