The Passing of Queen Elizabeth II

It is with great sadness and respect that Spinnaker Sailing Club marks the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Patron of our governing body, the RYA.
Spinnaker Club wishes to express our deepest sympathy to her family and to all those close to her. Her dedicated service to her subjects, her country, the Commonwealth and to all her other realms is unparalleled. We offer our sincere thanks for all she achieved during her 70 year reign.
The Queen gave her patronage to the Yacht Racing Association in 1952, when it became the Royal Yachting Association. The Royal Family, as well as supporting the sport, have always been keen sailors and have recognised how much pleasure sailing gives to many people.
The Club will observe the mourning period but at the moment we plan to run normal racing and training activities. We are flying our flags at half mast and there will be a one minute silence before this Sunday's pursuit race. It is likely that the Club will be closed on the day of the Queen's funeral.
This is a difficult time for every one and the situation is very fluid. The Club will monitor the situation and as a result our responses may change. Please look out for further updates by email and on the website.
