New Pay As You Go Monthly Memberships - Launching January 2022

We are very excited to announce that from January 2022 we will be trialling a new form of flexible membership here at Spinnaker Sailing Club!
Traditionally members have joined a sailing club for 12 months at a time, with an annual renewal and fee. While this works very well for those who want to sail/kayak/paddleboard/windsurf all year round, or store equipment at the club, many people only wish to use the water and the club's facilities during the summer period, and so do not wish to sign up for a full year. Over the last two year our Taster Memberships have been very popular, and a great way of introducing many new members to the club. One of the most common bits of feedback has been along the lines of "We've really enjoyed our Taster Membership, and would like to do something similar next year." Under our previous membership offerings you could only be a Taster Member once every 3 years.
As a Club we take on board all feedback from our members and users, and also keep an eye on trends within the leisure industry to ensure we can offer the best possible experience for everyone. With an increasing demand for a "Pay and Play" style membership we have come up with this new offering of Pay As You Go Monthly Memberships and hope they will help many more people access the facilities here at Spinnaker Sailing Club. This is a new form of membership for Spinnaker Sailing Club, and very few sailing clubs currently offer something similar, so we are running it as a trial this year to help us learn how it works, and if we find tweaks to make it better we will make them.
How will this new membership work?
Our Pay As You Go Monthly Memberships will be available throughout the year, and can be started at any time. They are paid for monthly by Direct Debit, with a minimum commitment of 3 months. When you want the membership to end or be paused you just need to give us one month's notice in writing and we will do the rest! So you can join the club for June, July, August 2022, pause your membership with effect from 1st September, and then restart it for another 3 months at a later date with no penalties or extra fees, just the same monthly Direct Debit payment! You can stay on this style of membership for as long as you want to, with no maximum time limit!
We are offering two forms of this membership for 2022, Family Pay As You Go Monthly, and Adult Pay As You Go Monthly. Our Family offering is for 2 adults plus the children 16 and under of the household, while our Adult offering is for those who are 26 and over! If you are somewhere in the middle, such as being 18, you will be better off joining as an Annual Young Adult Member, due to the discount we already offer for this membership category.
What can I do on a Pay As You Go Monthly Membership?
Almost everything someone on an Annual Membership can!
- You can access the lake sunrise to sunset throughout the year to sail, kayak, paddleboard and windsurf.
- You can hire the club's dinghies, kayaks and paddleboards. (Small extra charge)
- You can book onto the activities in our programme of training and coaching activities for sailing and paddleboarding (Small extra charge for some activities)
- You can join in with our jam packed dinghy racing programme
- Make use of our club house facilities
- Take part in our social activities
So how much will it cost?
We pride ourselves here at Spinnaker Sailing Club as offering one of the best value memberships for sailing clubs in the area!
A Pay As You Go Family Membership costs £40 a month.
A Pay As You Go Adult Membership costs £25 a month.
There is no joining fee, deposit or other hidden fees to pay, just the monthly fee and if you use them any hire or training charges!
Should part way through the year you want to change to an Annual Membership let us know and we will get your membership changed over to the most suitable type for you.
How do I join?
All you need to do is fill in the application form (click "Join" in the top right corner of our website to find it), and then one of our team will be in touch to get your membership setup. There is no membership interview, you don't need to be nominated/proposed/seconded as you may have heard some other clubs require. Just a couple of simple forms so we have the right contact details and get make sur your membership works for you from day one!
