Spinnaker Sailing Club Newsletter - 17th December
Published 10:09 on 17 Dec 2021
2021 is almost over, and Christmas is just 8 days away!
Club Staffing
As in previous newsletter please remember that the club office will not be manned from Monday 20th December to Tuesday 4th January.
During this time regular checks will be made on the site to ensure it remains safe and secure. Should there be any urgent safety or security concerns during this time please call James on 07880517110.
The Topper Sailors Don't Stop!
This weekend sees our Regional Training Group Topper Sailors on their next trip to Oxford for the last weekend of training before Christmas, mean while the International Topper Class Association are hosting training alongside some of our own Optimists at the club tomorrow!
New Years Day Race
Don't forget our New Years Day Race is still going ahead! This will be one handicap race, of approximately an hour, with separate trophies for Adult and Junior sailors. What a great way to start the year off with some silverware! Robert M has kindly stepped forward as our Race Officer with Paul and Andrew G manning the safety boat and Jason W as ARO it should be a good race!
Winter Wednesday Talks
Nick Craig joined us on Zoom on Wednesday for a very informative and useful talk. Watch out for a few racers suddenly doing better as they put his tips into action! (Although I'm not sure how many agreed with him that sailing at 6.30am was a good idea!)
Our next Winter Wednesday Talk is being given to us by Ken Fowler, RS Aero sailor and adventurer whose exploits include sailing his Aero from Lands End to John O'Groats! Ken will be joining us on Wednesday 12th January. While we hope to host this talk in the clubhouse, it may be held via Zoom should the main committee deem this more appropriate.
Have a happy and safe Christmas, and we look forward to seeing you all soon!
