And they are off!

The 2022 racing programme kicked off in style on Saturday's New Years Day race.
Conditions were exceptionally mild with a 6-10 knot south westerly. Over 20 boats made the start line with fleet racing for laser and solo and many single and double handers including Feva, Firefly, Topper, Lighting and Wanderer. Race officer Robert Marshall set the fleet beating off to the top mark. A choice of island routing was possible on the broad reach over to D and then a season opening gybe. A second shorter beat completed the lap.
Conditions suited the Solos, as did particularly skilled start line positioning and line-speed. Ian Matthews got away and sailed his own race. Ed Rogers and Duncan Peace duelled for an hour with Ed getting 2 seconds ahead. Top laser was Keith McQuillin. Kirsten in the Byte competed strongly amongst the full lasers.
In the juniors Edward skilfully piloted the Topper 5.3, with Feva Matthew/Orla and Oppy Olivia in pursuit.
The event starts off a very full programme of racing throughout the year. This year's programme includes mixed PY, pursuit racing, open meetings, a long duration race, team racing and more. See the racing tab, or calendar for all details.
