An increasingly becalmed Wednesday 23 August saw the end of the 2023 edition of the ever popular Wed B series and the Summer Pursuit series. Close to 50 competitors entered for each of these two. Often competitors varied which boat they sailed too, and with who so lots of Spinnaker flexibility.

In the Wednesday B Ed Morris showed outstanding flair in a loaned Firefly, narrowly ahead of Keith and Jasmine in a montage of Firefly/ Laser. Ian Hickman takes the 3rd spot in the Laser a nose ahead of Nick Robinson's Solo. In the Juniors Monty wins over Isabella & Max.

In the Summer pursuit, Les nailed the series early just ahead of Ben's skilled piloting of the Club loan Solo, Nick's Solo and Guy's Laser. In the juniors Monty's two wins and a second wins.

Prizes for these events will be awarded at Commodores Cup night next week, after Fish and Chips.

On Sunday 20th August the 6 race 'Pure Pursuit (PP)' and the 12 race traditional Yardstick race series ended. The Pure Pursuit is a new addition to 2023 programme and blends the Yardstick format with pursuit racing format, without individual sailor adjustments. So fleet racing and Yardstick racing.

In a series with 24 entrants in the PP Jon Burns in his Aero 7 proved unstoppable with 4 wins. Robert Marshall Solo and Laser takes a strong second over Dave Swordy's Solo. The Juniors have a busy Sunday morning training and other events and we have increasing numbers into the afternoon racing. In the series Monty wins in his Oppy, ahead of the fleet of toppers and Oppys.

With Jon tuned up from the PP he also wins the 41 entrant afternoon series. Ian Hickman in the Laser Radial with 4 race wins gave a close run to Jon. Chris Lynam and the Club's instructor Oli take the 3rd in the RS200.

The Prize Giving for the Sunday series will occur after this Sunday's Blashford Barrel event day and BBQ so come along and support.

As ever, the success and enjoyment of our racing is down to lots of people including club staff and the race teams of boat crews, race officer/ assistant teams. Big thanks to them.
