Youth Sailor Success!

A week ago was the Round the Island Race with Embley, one of the schools whose dinghy race programme we support, not only entering but winning their class! Amongst the team were club members Joe (who has a Mirror) and Max S (one of our instructors and the latest addition to our RS Aero fleet)!

Then last week then saw the annual Itchenor Schools Week. On Monday and Tuesday the RS Fevas competed, whilst Wednesday, Thursday and Friday saw the turn of the Fireflys! Amongst the Firefly fleet was Max M and Lewis in their recently acquired boat representing Ringwood School, meanwhile Bryanston School who train with us twice a week had two boats entered with Erin/Minty and Piran/Tilly competing. For Max and Piran this was their first time competing in a Firefly fleet racing event on tidal water and both put in a great effort, learning lots across the three days. Meanwhile Erin and Minty who have competed on the Firefly circuit (including the first placed youth boat at last year's inlands) took 3rd overall and first placed all female boat! Well done all of you!

RYA Windsurf Training Centre Recognition

Following our recent RYA inspection we are very excited that we are now a recognised training centre for windsurfing as well as dinghy sailing and powerboating! This means we can now aware RYA Youth Stage 1 and 2, and Start Windsurfing certificates!

Our next windsurf course (and our first ever RYA one) starts on 24th July! Click here for more details and to book on!

Lost Property

Don't forget tomorrow we will be clearing out the lost property box, with items going to the charity shop or into the bin! Please come and check this evening if you think you have lost something at the club.

SYT End of Term BBQ

This Sunday is the final Spinnaker Youth Training session before the summer holidays! We would love to see all our youth sailors taking part in the first race on Sunday, before joining us for a bring your own food BBQ at 2.15pm after the race!

For more details please speak to James or Emma (or join our SYT Whatsapp group for all youth sailor families, see below for more details)!

Summer Activities

As we approach the summer holidays we have lots of opportunities to take part in sailing regularly! Throughout the summer we will have social sailing on a Thursday morning, Club Night on a Friday evening, and while there is no SYT running Youth Social Sailing on a Sunday morning!

Don't forget our club racing is open to all members as well, and we would love to see more people taking part!

How To Stay In Touch

As well as our weekly newsletters which go to all members, and our Facebook and Instagram pages we have several other ways for members to stay in touch and up to date with what is going on!

We have our fortnightly racing newsletter, to sign up please email training@spinnakerclub.co.uk.

We also have various Whatsapp groups including ones for ILCA sailors, Solo sailors, Team Raceer/Firefly sailors, handicap fleet sailors and our Spinnaker Youth Training families. To join any of the Whatsapp groups please speak to the class captain.
