Windy Weather

There has been some great warm summer wind recently! It was brilliant to see the efforts of our youth sailors on Sunday morning during their coaching sessions before some exciting racing in the afternoon!

As well as seeing members enjoying themselves in challenging conditions it was great to see others making sensible, informed decisions about whether it was appropriate for them to go afloat. If you would ever like advice about the conditions on the lake please feel free to talk to a member of club staff or the race team on the day, but overall if in doubt don't go out!

Mega SUP!

We have several large group activities planned over the next few weeks. To support us in getting as many young people afloat as possible the Royal Yachting Association South and South West Regions have kindly loaned us their 2 Mega SUPs! These paddleboards are paddled by up to 8 people at once and we are sure they will be hugely popular! This resource is available from the RYA to Onboard Clubs, with the boards very generously sponsored by Barton Marine!

RYA Training Courses

Our summer holiday programme of RYA training courses is booking up fast. We do still have a number of spaces available across the summer, but some weeks are now fully booked. We encourage members to book soon to ensure they get a space on the course they wish to take part in. If you would like any advice about which course is suitable for you or your child please speak to any of the Club's instructors!

Dogs at Spinnaker Sailing Club

Can we please remind all members that in accordance with the Club's Bylaws and the lease with Wessex Water all dogs must be kept under control at all times at Spinnaker Sailing Club, and only assistance dogs are permitted within the club buildings. This may mean if you have a particularly energetic or inquisitive dog it needs to be kept on a lead at all times.

New Lockers!

You may have recently noticed some new lockers in the corridor by the changing rooms! Following feedback from members the club has invested in 16 lockers to allow valuables to be safely stored whilst members are afloat. We are currently waiting for the wristbands (to keep the keys safe) to be delivered before the lockers can be used.

Once the lockers are in use they will work like the swimming pool lockers we are all used to where you must insert a pound coin to release the key, which is returned when the locker is unlocked.

Save the Dates!

We have several great social events planned over the summer, all with a waterborne element! Please see below for the dates:

Wednesday 20th July - Fish and Chips after racing!
Sunday 28th August - Blashford Barrel Funday and Summer Prize Giving, more details to follow soon, but always a great day for all the family

Wednesday 31st August - Fish and Chips after the Commodore's Cup and Alice Lisle Tankard Races!
