Extra Help This Week!
This week our staff team have been joined by three students from local schools for work experience! Ben, Bede and Robbie have all taken parts in Spinnaker Youth Training at various times. They are getting an insight into what it is like working in the sailing industry helping our instructors with everything from cleaning the changing rooms to fixing boats, to assisting on sessions!
This morning they have been helping re-configure our powerboat pontoon, see below for more information!
New Lockers
Our new lockers are now available for use by members! Like the ones we are used to using at swimming pools and gyms you must insert a £1 coin for the key to release, this will be returned when you unlock the locker at the end of your sail.
Friday Night is Club Night
Don't forget on Friday's we currently have club equipment available to hire until 8.30pm! Come on down and enjoy the lake knowing an instructor is on hand with the safety boat! This week our Chief Instructor James is on duty and hopes to see lot's of people out enjoying the evening!
Powerboat Pontoon
Our safetyboat drivers may have noticed that our Humber Ribs are slightly wider than the Seariders, and it was a little bit of a squeeze to get them in. With some help from our work experience team we have re-configured the pontoon this morning so that there is a slightly wider gap for Ribs 1 and 2 (our Humbers), so that they fit in much more easily! Please return powerboats to the bay you got them from.
Wildlife at the Lake
Our baby geese have now grown up and started leaving the lake, however our pair of breeding swans now have some little cygnets! A week ago there were five cygnets, and sadly three seem to have not made it, with mum and dad now being very protective of the two survivors.
Can we please ask all members to give the swans plenty of space, both to avoid distressing these beautiful animals, but also for your own safety!
Club Dinghy Racing Programme
It has been fantastic to see so many members taking part in our club racing recently, with members aged from 8 to "very experienced" taking to the water! Please remember that it is free to take part in racing as a member, and all abilities of sailor are welcomed!
If you are unsure about how racing works there are several useful guides within the "Racing" section of our club website or please do ask a member of club staff or another member, we are all very happy to give some time to help people experience racing!
