Busy January!

It might be winter, when many people stop sailing but that isn't the case at Spinnaker Sailing Club! Last weekend we hosted another training day for the International Optimist Class Association, this weekend we had the International Topper Class Association, and next weekend we are hosting the JETS Topper Training Programme, all alongside our club racing and training!

After another blustery day for our Icicle Series there are just 2 races left in this series, before on 28th/29th January we host the Wessex Winter Warmer organised by Southampton University Sailing Club! Please be aware that on 28th/29th January there will be general access to the lake due to this event, and no Club Racing on 29th January.

Help On The Slipway!

We are aware that some of our slipways are steep, and can be hard to use if you have a heavier boat such as a Wayfarer or Wanderer. Should you ever like some help bringing your boat up or down the slipway please don't be shy! Our members are very friendly and happy to help, or our instructor team are always happy to help!

The Water Level Is Rising!

If you have visited the lake recently you will have seen that after the water level dropped in the summer heatwave, the recent rains have topped it back up, with some of our pontoons now floating above the concrete jetties.

Please take care when stepping onto the pontoons (particularly the black modular ones) to avoid tripping. The increased water level also means some tree stumps and branches are now submerged around the large central island, so please be aware of these, especially those racers who like to sail as close as possible to the island to take advantage of the wind bend!

Updated Members Handbook

Our updated Member's Handbook for 2023 can now be viewed in the member's area of the club website at the link below. A small further update to this will be issued in March as our Sailing Committee are currently working on a few tweaks to our Wednesday Evening Personal Handicap Pursuit Race to help make it accessible for more members!

Well Done Team Topper!

Sunday saw the Royal Southern Yacht Club's Icebreaker Regatta open to Toppers! Lewis and Matthew took part representing our Topper Fleet, with both performing well in some challenging conditions. Matthew took first place overall amongst the Topper 5.3s! Well done both of you!

2023 Annual Membership Renewals

Thank you to everyone who has already renewed their annual membership for 2023! Our early bird renewal discount runs until the end of January, so you've still got time to take advantage of the reduced rate for this year!

If you haven't renewed yet you can do so here on our website!

See you soon!
