Club Improvements Update

Members will be aware of our ongoing list of improvements in our facilities this year, including the new Bar which is nearing completion (with just some decorating to finish off), the car park work and the fantastic results of our March work party.

On Monday the 22nd April, our contractor will start working on the north west shoreline, creating 3 permanent picnic areas within the grass bank. These will consist two single areas and one double bench area which will dug into the bank, levelled and slabbed and with the bank being retained by re using the spare sleepers and the old telegraph pole that have sat there for years. This exciting feature will benefit all that use our lake and be another step towards making the whole site an enjoyable place to be.

Whilst on site, Mark our contractor (please say hello if you're there) will be repairing the very large and growing hole as you turn off Ivy Lane onto our entrance. Can we just make you aware that Mark will be on site for 3 days and take care as he will be using heavy machinery.

Rescheduled Class Captains Race Practice

Following the windy weather this weekend the decision was taken to postpone the Class Captain's session looking at starts to Sunday 21st April. This session will run from 10.00-12.30, so perfect to warm up before racing begins at 1pm! You can book your spot here. Please note this training is for singlehanders sailed by over-18s only.

Discover Sailing at Spinnaker Sailing Club

On Monday 6th May we will be holding an Open Day to show the local community what goes on at Spinnaker Sailing Club, give people to try sailing free of charge and find out more about us!

You can see more information, and sign up for the taster slots here!

Please do spread the word about this day as we'd love to see as many people as possible at the club!

Club Racing Duties

Have you signed up for your duties yet this year? We have several roles still vacant in the next few weeks and beyond. We ask that all adult members do at least 2 duties per year, and if you are a regular racer you are expected to do 3. We will shortly be allocating race duties to ensure our programme can run, so we recommend volunteering now so you get a slot which works for you! Volunteering for duties not only helps the club run it's great programme of activities, it's also a great way to meet other members and learn more about racing.

In particular we are urgently looking for:
Sunday 21st April - Race Officer or Safetyboat Driver (we have one volunteer who has said they can do either)
Sunday 28th April - Safetyboat Driver and Crew
Wednesday 1st May - Race Officer

If you would like to know more about how to get involved please speak to James, Neil or a member of the Sailing Committee.
