Work Party - 2nd March
This Saturday is our Spring Work Party! We have a range of jobs we would like to do from lowering/thinning the hedge at the south end of our boat park to pressure washing the decking by the race hut and weeding around the patio. We will be meeting at 10am and carrying on until around 3.30pm. Whether you can come for the whole day or just a few hours all help is welcome and hugely appreciated.
If you have a strimmer/brush cutter/hedge cutter which does not need to be plugged into the mains electricity you can bring to use that would be very helpful. You must be happy to use your own equipment at the club in a safe manner, and it will not be used by anyone except the owner.
To say thank you for giving up your Saturday we will have tea/coffee available, and a free sausage roll/pasty if you pre-book it here! Please order your food by 2pm on Thursday.
Racing This Sunday
This Sunday is our final 1-day Icicle Race Series before our weekly racing resumes on Easter Sunday!
This week we have 3 races, with the first start at 11.30, a second race at 13.00 after a short lunch break, and then the final race. On this page of our website you can find out more information about racing including how it runs and how to take part.
Old Tyre Tidy Up
As part of this year's drive to smarten up and improve our Clubs facilities, we are proposing to cleanse the boat parks of what appear to be redundant tyres. We have contracted with a Company who will collect and dispose of our surplus tyres in a licensed and environmentally friendly way
Included within this weekend's work party, we will be pilling up the surplus tyres for collection by the workshop, leaving a stock behind the shed should any members require them for propping up of boats, please ask James or Neil to draw upon our stock if the need arises
We will not be moving any tyres that are in obvious use, or in a space where a boat is currently away from the park.
Site Improvements
Over the last week several improvements have been made to our facilities. New barriers have been installed in the North Car Park to protect boats from manoeuvring vehicles. Meanwhile a new sensor has been added to our existing solar panel system to use any surplus electricity in a smarter way, by heating our hot water, helping us be more environmentally friendly, and reduce the club's running costs.
We Are Recruiting
We are currently seeking to recruit a new Lead Instructor on an 18-month contract to support our growing programme of training, coaching and racing! This role will run until the end of the 2025 sailing season, giving us greater continuity of staff and allow us to offer even more activities to members!
You can see the job advert, with more details and how to apply here.
