RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show

It was great to see so many members making the trip to Farnborough this weekend to visit the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show. For many of us the highlights included seeing the new rotomoulded Topper, prototype Byte CII sail, or catching up with old friends. For our younger members the highlight was definitely the amount of freebies they came away with including some fantastic hats, visors, buffs and keyrings!

BUSA Playoffs 2023

This coming weekend we are hosting the Playoffs of the BUSA Team Racing Championship! Following from the 5 regional qualifiers run in February this is a second chance for teams who just missed out on an automatic place in the finals to qualify!

This event has been organised by the Southampton University Sailing Club, and as always we are proud to be supporting them. As well as being the venue we are providing a flight of Fireflys and powerboats. We will also be heavily involved in the delivery of the racing with our Chief Instructor James as Principal Race Officer and Rear Commodore Sailing Tom as one of the Umpires!

Please remember there is no club racing this weekend, and no recreational access to the lake due to the size of this event.

Solo Beach Grading

Following feedback from our members we have had the beach launching area by the Solo berths graded and levelled to make it easier to launch and land!

Let's Get Ready for the Summer

A big theme in the work the club is doing at the moment is making sure we are a fantastic place for members to enjoy in the summer!

On 6th and 7th March (next Monday and Tuesday) we will be having a professional deep clean of the clubhouse to make sure it is in the best possible condition for our members as we approach the start of the summer! Alongside this work we will be having all our powerboats serviced next week.

Don't forget on 18th March we will be having our Spring Work Party, look out for more details next week!

2023 Boat Berth Permits

Last week we applied the 2023 Boat Berth Permits to dinghies in the boat park! This year they are a fantastic shade of purple (at the insistence of one of our Optimist sailors)!

If your boat has been away and so has not had it's sticker applied (or it was missed) please speak to James or Neil in the office who will issue your sticker.

Social Sailing

Don't forget we have Social Sailing every Thursday morning! This Thursday is also a day of strike action for some of our local teachers. If you are at home with your young sailor and want them to get some fresh air (and they don't have any online lessons at that time) please feel free to bring them along!

Social sailing runs from 10.30 to 12.30 every Thursday.
