Work Party This Saturday!

This Saturday (18th March) we have our Spring Work Party! As a members club we rely on our members volunteering a small amount of time each year to help us keep the club going! Taking part in a work party is one of the ways we ask our members to contribute, helping to keep the club looking great and being ready to use!

We have a range of jobs we would like to do ranging from painting the sheds, to weeding, to cutting down some of the overgrown foreshore to pressure washing the fences!

To keep our volunteers going there will be tea, coffee and biscuits!

Ongoing Site Improvements!

Yesterday fresh scalpings were laid and compacted into some of the persistent large puddles we have in our North Car Park. Can we please remind all members of the 5mph speed limit within the Club Grounds to help protect our car park and driveway.

Last week we also began the process of replacing then permanent yellow buoys on the lake. A and G were the first two to be replaced. New anchors and chains have been prepared and will be installed with the other 6 new buoys next week!

Easter Holiday Youth Courses!

We have a range of youth courses running this Easter including RYA Stage 1 & 2 Sailing, Stage 3 & 4 Sailing, Seamanship Skills & Sailing with Spinnakers and our new Learn to Windsurf Course!

All of these run Monday to Friday (including Bank Holidays) from 09.30 to 4.30, earlier drop offs and later pick ups can be arranged. You can see the course dates, find out more information and book on from the calendar on our website.

Welcome to New Members and Pre-Race Evening!

On Wednesday 5th April we have our annual Welcome to New Members and Pre-Race Evening Social! This is a great opportunity to meet other members, our Main and Sailing Committee, Club Staff and find out how to make the most of your membership at the Club!

Starting at 7pm we will have Fish & Chips (must be pre-ordered, orders will be taken from Monday 27th March online). Then from 7.30 pm our Sailing Committee will guide you through how you can make the most of your membership and an overview of some of the tweaks we have made to how we run racing for 2023. New for this year we will then have several breakout groups including:
- An Introduction to the Racing Rules (Ideal for new racers)
- Racing Rules for Intermediate Racers (Ideal for those who have done some racing but want to learn about a few of the finer details)
- Race Officer and Assistant Race Officer Update (For those who do these duties)

While the breakout groups are running we will also be running some fun activities for our younger members, and would strongly encourage families to come along and bring their children!

Free tea and coffee will be available throughout the evening and the bar will be open!

Unpaid for Boats

A big thankyou to everyone who has renewed their membership for 2023!

Unfortunately a few individuals have not renewed their membership and their craft are still on site. Yesterday Notices of Obligation to Collect and Notices of Intention to Sell were affixed to these craft, with copies of the notices also emailed to those concerned. This is the start of the process to enable Spinnaker Sailing Club to remove these craft from the site in line with the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977.

- A fortnightly racing newsletter (sign up by emailing training@spinnakerclub.co.uk)
