The Club's Championship racing took place over the last two Sundays.
20 competitors took part including Solos, Lasers, Aeros, Toppers, Fireflies Enterprises and a Wayfarer.
The years highly variable weather continued with the first Sunday characterised by initially warm (even hot) light air followed by a cooling off (even cold) as the three races proceeded in generally light airs.
Race officer Robert Marshall set the fleet's course for the 3 x 40 minute races. Ian Hickman in the Laser proved unstoppable, with Jon Burns in the Aero 9 the primary contendor. Of particular note in the juniors is Jasmine's overall second place in Race 3.
For the second day, the weather on arrival was..to be generous, fairly atrocious with the night's rainfall continuing and the lake somewhat mirror like. Benefitting from the extra hour in bed, well clad competitors assembled for the briefing. Race 1 was drifting and zephyr hunting and it was James Oborne in the Firefly who mastered conditions beating Ian to second. By Race 2 the forecast SW F3/4 established itself and the next two races saw more [physically challenging conditions including planing and downwind rolls! Andrew Musselwhite Laser won the second race and Robert Marshall Laser Radial Race 3.
Ian Hickman Laser wins the overall event and Adult award with Jon Burns' Aero9 second and Andrew Musselwhite Laser third.
The junior trophy is won by Max and Bede in the firefly, with Will in the Topper second. Jasmine wins day 1 Juniors.
Thank you all who made the racing happen. In particular those afloat who had to support various capsized and gear-damaged craft, and in one case aiding a pinned lee-shore boat.
Prizes and Trophies will be awarded at the Club's AGM. Full results are available on the Sailwave Results Tab.
