Discover Sailing at Spinnaker Sailing Club

On Monday 6th May we will be holding an Open Day to show the local community what goes on at Spinnaker Sailing Club, give people to try sailing free of charge and find out more about us!

You can see more information, and sign up for the taster slots here!

Please do spread the word about this day as we'd love to see as many people as possible at the club!

Club Improvements Update

Yesterday the work to lay our new picnic area patios began! We are expecting this work to be completed by Wednesday, and it is on Wednesday (perfectly in time for evening racing) that the driveway will be fixed where it joins Ivy Lane! Please be aware of the heavy machinery currently in operation in the North Car Park.

Meanwhile inside the painting has started in our new combined bar/galley area, and hopefully this will be finished early next week as it is being done around other club activities.

BSDRA Southerns

On Saturday we hosted the British School Dinghy Racing Association Southerns, organised by Winchester College. 120 young sailors (in 20 teams) took part, with 110 races run in total!

Congratulations to the Ryde Riggers for taking the overall title, after a close final against Royal Hospital School.

You can see all the results here!

RYA Training

Don't forget we have a range of RYA Training courses running during May Half Term including an RYA Stage ! & 2, and RYA Stage 3 & 4 courses for dinghy sailing and an RYA Stage 1 Windsurfing Course! You can see all the details and book on our website calendar here.

Safetyboat Reminder

Driving our safetyboats is one of the most important duties to help support our sailors take part in racing and other activities. Please remember that the engine should be turned off whenever you are next to a person in the water. You may have heard stories of drivers leaving the engine running at other venues, and at times this may be appropriate in more challenging locations, but this is never necessary at Spinnaker Sailing Club due to our controlled environment and well maintained boats!

We are looking to run some more safetyboat refreshers in the near future after the success of our recent ones, look out for more details soon.
