Welcome to Sam!
Today is an exciting day as we welcome our new Apprentice Instructor Sam! Sam joins the team as an apprentice in conjunction with Channel Training and will be working towards a variety of qualifications during his time with us. Sam started sailing when he was 8 after a friend from school took him on a course, ever since then he has had a great passion for water sports, Sam has been a member at Spinnaker for the last few years and you may well have seen him crewing for various members during club racing. We hope you'll join us in making Sam feel very welcome!
Optimist Open
We had a very successful Optimist Open with 39 boats racing on Saturday. It was fantastic to welcome sailors from many clubs across the country. You can read a full report, and view the results here.
A big thank you to everyone who made this event happen.
New Chandlery and Maintenance Services!
We are very excited to announce that we now have a small chandlery on site, and our staff team are able to offer more support to members in repairing their boats!
Our onsite chandlery stocks a selection of rope from Kingfisher Yacht Ropes, as well as fittings from Allen and Clamcleat and assorted fixings and fasteners. These items are available to order online via our webshop, or pop into the club and speak to a member of staff for more advice and help.
We are also able (now we have a full staff team again) to be able to offer more support to members in caring for and repairing their boats. Some smaller routine tasks we have fixed prices for, while for larger jobs please speak to James for an estimate. Our team are able to undertake fibreglass and wooden boat repairs, as well as working on spars and rigging and splicing of ropes.
Spinnaker Youth Training
Spinnaker Youth Training restarts this Sunday for our last block of 2024. We have 4 groups running, with only a few spots left. You can see more details and book here. In particular we'd like to highlight our Doublehanded group which will be using the club's Fevas to develop their team work and skills in crewed dinghies.
An email will be sent to everyone who's booked on with more information later this week.
JETS Training This Winter
The JETS Topper Training Programme is a collaboration between a number of local clubs including ourselves, Warsash, Hill Head, Hamble River, Stokes Bay and Portchester to help develop Topper sailors who are competing in Open Meetings or higher lever events.

Powerboat Refresher Training Tomorrow
Don't forget our powerboat refresher training tomorrow! Running from 10am to 3pm come on down if you have your RYA Powerboat Level 2 or RYA Safetyboat Certificate for a chance to practice on our boats under the supervision of one of our Powerboat Instructors. Neil will be on hand to answer questions throughout the day to help members become familiarised with our various craft.
