Start of Spring Series

Sunday April 25th saw the opener of our Spring Pursuit (early pm) and Spring PY (afternoon) series that will run for 5 weeks.
A brisk and gusty wind from the East met the fleet. 16 faster boats made it to their Pursuit start and most notably 6 of the slower boats for their 1300 start.
Perseverence saw all 5 toppers and Feva complete with Ava, Charlotte/ Jasmine and Max take the honours. All competitors deserve great credit. In the faster pursuit Thomas in the Laser 4.7 held off Jonathan's chasing Aero and Stuart leading the lasers. Plenty of capsizes, broaches and other drama.
At 1415 the first 2 PY race started with 14 boats making the start. As the song goes ' as the going gets tough..' and it soon it became clear Stuart in the Laser was striding away though Thomas Laser 4.7 (2) Ed Solo (3) and Ian (4) in the Radial made it look deceptively easy too. Prizes for the afternoon should go to the RS200 and Fireball crews as they accommodated some fancy manoeuvres from their fast craft. Not sure Paul will be selected again and needs to return to Solos!
For the second PY race conditions stayed brisk with the aerometer showing gusts in the high 20mphs and a steady 15 mph. The traditional spinnaker swinging gusts around B made for a hard-working beat. Stuart took line honours but Ian takes the race on PY in the Radial. Particular thanks to the race Crew for the day.
So the series is underway with a blast.
