What a great sight it was on Sunday to once again see more than 30 boats out on the lake at once! With multiple activities happening at once it really feels like we are almost back to the Summer (we just need the weather to arrive now)!

RYA Dinghy and Watersports Show 2022

A number of members attended the RYA Dinghy and Watersports Show this weekend. It sounds like everyone had a great time, and it was fantastic to see 3 of our resident universities (Southampton, Bournemouth and Portsmouth) receive awards as part of the Green Blue Challenge promoting environmentally sustainable practices!

Club Racing Duties

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to support our race programme in 2022!

There are a number of roles that still need filling, and we have also had to allocate duties to a number of members to ensure the programme can run. If you have been allocated a duty you will have received a short automatic email from the Club informing you. If you have not done so already can you please log into the club website to cofirm you have received the message.

If you cannot make a duty there is a function on the Club website to arrange a swop, and I know at least one person has already put a request in so please have a look.

JETS Topper Training

This weekend it was our turn to host a weekend of training for Topper sailors as part of the JETS Programme! This is a collaboration between a number of local clubs icluding us, Warsash, Hill Head, Stokes Bay, Lee on Solent and Porchester! 21 sailors took to the water for some expert coaching from Paralympic Gold Medallist Helena Lucas!

This is an annual programme and whilst this cycle is drawing to a close in the next month there will be opportunities again next winter!

Central Island Work

As we have entered March our window for working on the central island has finished until late autumn! A huge amount of work has been done clearing brambles and felling trees! This has made a better nesting site for birds, and reduced the area of the wind shadow from the island, Buoy E should be a lot easier to get around now!

A massive thankyou to the team of Dick, Les, Nick, Ian and James who have been working out there!

Ladies and Social Sailing

Our Ladies Sailing Group restarts this week! If you missed the opportunity to book on we have extended the booking window to tomorrow! lLongside Ladies Sailing we will continue to promote our Social Sailing, followed by tea and biscuits for everyone!
