Good Luck To Our Team Racers This Weekend!
This weekend sees the annual Eric Twiname/RYA Junior and Youth Team Racing Championship at Oxford Sailing Club. Spinnaker Sailing Club has a team entered in the Junior category where they will be racing Fevas! This is a fantastic event, and we are sure they will have lots of fun, good luck team!
Good luck also to the school teams who have been training hard at Spinnaker Sailing Club over the last few weeks, a total of 6 teams are entered from schools we have worked alongside including Winchester College, Bryanson School, Milton Abbey and Embley School!
Thursday Volunteering
A big thank you to our two stalwarts of Thursday afternoon volunteering Philip and Chris! They have done some fantastic work over the last few weeks, including moving some very smelly weed last week!
As winter is approaching we are planning on having a last blitz on cutting down some vegetation in the boat park this week and some extra pairs of hands would be greatly appreciated from 1pm on Thursday!
Racing Survey
Our Sailing Committee has been hard at work planning a busy programme for 2023! They would greatly appreciate some feedback on our racing as we finalise a few details! If you could please take a couple of minutes to answer the 5 questions at the link below that would be very helpful!

Winter Is Coming!
Last week we had a few tips to help keep your boat safe over the winter, now it's time to think about ourselves!
It is a rule of the Club that from 1st November to 31st March all sailors, windsurfers, kayakers, paddleboarders and wingers must as a minimum wear a wetsuit or drysuit plus a buoyancy aid. However, with temperatures already dropping it may be worth packing that wetsuit and considering wearing it from now, the water temperature in the lake drops relatively quickly due to how shallow it is.
Please also remember we will use more energy whilst sailing in cold weather so make sure you are fuelled up and stay hydrated!
Race Volunteers
Thank you to everyone who has supported our racing programme over the last year. We have a couple of events coming up where some extra help would be appreciated, these are:
RS Aero Open 15th October - Safety Boat Crews and ARO
Club Championships Weekend 1 23rd October - Safetyboat Crew
Club Championships Weekend 2 30th October - Safetyboat Driver and Crew
Racing Rules Observance
Those of you who participate in racing (or have asked to be added to the list) should be receiving a racing newsletter every two weeks on a Friday, which includes some more detailed racing news as well as regular rules and race management tips. Last week's rules tip was regarding Rule 42 - Propulsion.
A number of members have recently voiced frustrations to the Sailing Committee regarding the observance of this rule, particularly with regards to the rocking/pumping of boats and tacking/gybing to gain a speed advantage. Please be mindful of your rules observance. Where Race Officers have the knowledge and understanding of rules we encourage them to provide friendly reminders to sailors who may be in breach of this rule. If a Race Officer sees repeated rule breaking they can protest a sailor on behalf of the Race Committee.
