Fish & Chips Tomorrow Night!

This Wednesday (8th May) we have two dinghy races, followed by fish and chips!

The Wednesday A Handicap Race 5 will start at 17.45 (with a separate Junior Fleet start). The Holman Bowl Race 5 will start at 18.53. Following racing we will be having fish and chips at around 20.30, and of course the bar will be open! Fish and chips must be pre-ordered by 1200 on Wednesday via this webpage.

Discover Sailing Event

The Club's Open Day/Discover Sailing event yesterday was a huge success! Free of charge sailing taster sessions were run for 60 people, with many more visiting, alongside our regular Monday activities of private tuition and a school group in the afternoon! It was wonderful to welcome so many visitors, with everyone leaving very excited about sailing!

A huge thankyou to the team who made the day happen: James, Neil, Sophia, Roxy, Phil, Emma, Tom, Tim and Bella!

New Racer Streamers

Did you know we have red streamers available from the race hut for new racers to fly from the clew of their sail? These red streamers are there to act like the "P" plates that newly qualified drivers can use to indicate to others they are new to racing. If you are nervous about trying your first race please do not be! Take a streamer and go and enjoy yourself!

As a members sailing club one of our key aims is to help sailors develop including taking their first steps and beyond in the world of racing. If you see someone flying a red streamer please remember they are relatively new to racing and may not have the same boat handling skills or rules knowledge as you. Please give them an allowance for this as they learn, and if you can give them some friendly tips then even better!

New Plants

You may have noticed recently the new planters around the clubhouse. These have been made by Phil Steedman using plants donated by Hilliers Garden Centre. They have massively brightened up the outside areas around the clubhouse, thank you Phil!

Bar/Galley Usage

Our bar and galley is available for groups to book out! As well as our group members New Forest Sailability who regularly book it; Southampton University Sailing Club, the Spinnaker Sloth Team Racers and SYT Parents have all booked it for events recently. Any group within the club can book it for a social activity, as long as it is managed in line with our Operations Manual. For more information please speak to James.
