Clubhouse Repairs!

As part of our continuing programme of improving Spinnaker Sailing Club the new canopies over the patio have now been installed (just in time for Sunday's rain), with new sides to provide better shade due to arrive in the next couple of weeks.

We have also had part of the patio re-laid to make it easier for wheelchairs to access the picnic area!

Sunday Spring Handicap Series' Finish!

Our Spring Morning Handicap and Spring Handicap Series have now finished! For the Spring Morning Handicap Series we trialled having a separate "Junior" start, which has been very successful in encouraging some of our less experienced youth sailors to try racing! A total of 14 young sailors took part in the Spring Morning Junior Series with Bella O taking the overall series, with Olivia G taking second place after the tie break! Meanwhile our Main Fleet Spring Handicap was hotly contested with 34 entrants, and Jonathan Burns taking the series win!

In the afternoon slightly less youth sailors raced, with Ava F taking first place for the Juniors in her Topper, with her winter of training clearly paying off! In the Main Fleet Jonathan's dominance continued as he took first place in the Afternoon Series as well!

From Sunday 12th June will have the Summer Sunday Pursuit Series starting at 12.45, followed by the Summer Handicap Series, with 2 races back to back the first starting at 2.15!

Greyfriars Cup Sprint Racing - Saturday 4th June!

Jonathan Burns has very kindly volunteered to run an afternoon of Sprint Racing on Saturday 4th June! With an aim to run races of around 25 minutes it means lots of action, and lots of opportunities to start (with committee boat starts likely)!

We will meet at the race hut at 1pm for a quick briefing before heading afloat to start as soon as possible, with an aim to be finished racing by 4pm.

SYT Block 1 is Over!

The first 6 weeks of our Spinnaker Youth Training Programme is over! It has been fantastic to see up to 29 sailors out for coaching every Sunday morning, including several new beginners who have achieved their RYA Youth Stage 1 Sailing! On the final session of Block 1 after the final Spring Morning Handicap Race our sailors had pizza and cake in the clubhouse!

SYT Block 2 is now open for booking at the link below!

Let's Go Sailing Thursdays!

Following the success of Social Sailing through the winter months and listening to feedback from member's about what they would like the club to offer, and why they took part in our Ladies Sailing programme, we have revamped our Thursday morning offering, with the launch of our new Let's Go Sailing Programme!

We have several instructor led groups running covering abilities from beginner to racer (and including 2 x women's sailing groups), as well as the recreational Social Sailing, all followed by tea/coffee and biscuits in the club house!
