Open Day - Sunday 8th May

It was brilliant to welcome so many visitors to the club on Sunday for our Open Day, with more than 30 getting the chance to try out paddleboarding with Justin! We have welcomed several new members to the club following the open day, and hope to see more who visited come back again in the future!

SYT Block 2

Spinnaker Youth Training Block 2 is now open for booking! It has been brilliant to see so many young sailors afloat over the last 3 Sundays, and there are still 3 sessions left of this block!

Please remember we do have a limited capacity based upon our instructor/coach ratios, and a limited number of boats available to hire.

British Youth Sailing Regional Junior Championships and RYA Onboard Fun Fleet!

This annual event is being held on 18/19 June this year, once again at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Last year a number of sailors entered and had a great time, with the majority already entered to return for 2022! For those newer to sailing there is the Onboard Fun Fleet delivered by experienced instructors, and aimed at those who are approximately RYA Stage 2 or higher!

For those just starting to race their is then the Coached Regatta Fleet for racing, before those with more competitive experience there is the Championship Fleet! For those looking to be selected for the RYA's Regional Training Groups this winter the Championship Fleet is one of the indicator events and performance and attitude at this event is taken into account during the selection process.

Sailors entering the Regatta or Championship racing fleets must supply their own boats. To support our young sailors the Sailing Committee has agreed to fund the hire of a van for the weekend so we can transport boats from the Club to WPNSA easily. This funding is coming the Youth Development Fund which is generously provided by donations from our members, with the aim of supporting our aspiring young sailors! If you would like to take advantage of this support please let either Nick Smith (Topper Class Captain) or Emma Barker (SYT Parents Rep) by Monday 23rd May so we can finalise plans!

Save the Date - Curry Night Wednesday 18th May

Our next after-racing takeaway will be a curry on Wednesday 18th May. Look out for details of how to order on Monday! As usual we will stop taking orders at 12:00 on the Wednesday, with food collected and returned to the Club for 20:30 after racing!

Solo Open - Saturday 7th May

13 boats entered our Solo Open on Saturday, including 2 visitors from Lymington Town Sailing Club and Lilliput Sailing Club! 4 races were won with Spinnaker locals Ian Matthews and Ed Rogers leading the racing all day, with Ed taking the final win and overall 1st place!

Full results can be seen here.

Social Sailing!

Don't forget Thursday Morning is our Social Sailing session! This is where we encourage members to head out either for a gentle cruise or a little bit of personal practice before joining our Ladies Sailing group for tea and biscuits at 12.30!
