Thank You!

A big thank you to our volunteers who helped with the work party on Saturday. We achieved a huge amount and the grounds are looking a lot smarter and tidier as we head into autumn!

Junior Winter Coaching Now Open For Booking

The ITCA (Topper) and IOCA (Optimist) Winter Coaching Programmes are now open for bookings. Each of these programmes has 6 days of high quality coaching, and are run at Spinnaker Sailing Club by the respective class associations, with sailors from across the south coast joining them!

Wednesday Evening Racing

Sadly our last Wednesday evening race of 2024 was last week! A big well done to everyone who braved the rain and strong winds over the last 2 races of our Twilight Series. You can see the full results on our website.

Club Improvements This Winter

This winter a number of improvements and developments are planned around the club. Wessex Water (our landlords) are funding the installation of a new washdown station to help combat the threat of invasive non-native species (such as our dreaded lake weed and killer shrimp). Meanwhile inside the clubhouse we are getting a new water cooler/dispenser installed in the main communal area, alongside a full re-decoration!

We do not know when some of these planned works will begin, but we do know the first phase of decoration by our contractors will start on 18th November. During some phases of the decoration we may need to restrict access to various areas of our clubhouse. Throughout the decoration work we will ensure access to toilets and changing facilities remains.

RYA Safetyboat Course

We have added an RYA Safetyboat course to our programme for the 9th and 10th November. You can see more details and sign up here. It is a club requirement that on each safetyboat supporting racing there is at least one person with this qualification.

Looking ahead to 2025

Next week our Sailing Committee will be discussing the planned programme for 2025. If you have any feedback or ideas please share them with a Sailing Committee member this week so they can be discussed and considered next Monday.
